The Student-Mentor Lunch is designed to partner students with established ornithologists in an effort to build camaraderie among people working in the same field, help students learn keys to success, and provide students a contact person with whom to confer throughout the meeting.
This year we expect to host approximately 50 participants. Students may choose from a list of professional ornithologists who have volunteered for the mentor program, and each ornithologist will be partnered with one or two students.Student-mentor partnerships will be formed prior the meeting to allow for early relationship development. Space is limited and students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year lunch is planned to be held at Uno Chicago Grill, a short walk from the conference venue. This event is open to students who are current members of AOU, SCO, or COS. Interested students should sign up by contacting Samantha Franks (cos.aou.sco.mentorlunch@gmail.com) Please include (1) name (2) institutional affiliation, and (3) choice of 3 professionals on your “wish list.” This year's professionals are listed below.
