Accommodation at UPenn

The AOU has made a commitment to use UPenn dormitory housing for the conference, and we must fulfill that commitment. We encourage you to support the meeting and the AOU by using UPenn Housing, and by making those arrangements early.

Checking In

To check in and receive your keys and ID card go to the Information Center located in the lobby of Harrison College House.

LONG TERM STAYS (2 weeks or more): Guest will receive a packet containing a data card, an envelope with keys, and a PennCard. The guest needs to sign the data card in the “move-in signature” line and fill in the mother’s maiden name and 4-digit code (last four digits of the social security number).

SHORT TERM STAYS (2 weeks or less): Guest will receive a packet containing an envelope with keys and a temporary ID. Upon arrival they must sign a conference sign-in sheet to verify their occupancy at any point during their stay. The conference sign-in sheet will act as reference anytime the participant needs a lock-out key

In order to access the residence hall you must swipe your ID card and enter the pin number given to you at check in. If at any time you should forget your pin see the desk attendant at the Information Center.

Checking Out
To check out return your keys and temporary ID (if you have one) to the front desk. You will be asked to sign the data card/conference sign in sheet you signed at check in. IMPORTANT: ALL KEYS MUST BE RETURNED AT MOVE-OUT. If a room key is not returned there will be a $130.00 charge for a core change

Dining

The University of Pennsylvania offers many options for dining on campus including several dining halls.

Our premiere dining hall, 1920 Commons is located on Locust Walk near the residence hall.  1920 Commons features all you care to eat buffet style dining.  Breakfast ($6.75 per person), lunch ($10.35 per person) and dinner ($14.00 per person) are served during the week and brunch ($10.35 per person) and dinner ($14.00 per person) on the weekends.  Cash is accepted and hours of operation can be found on the door of the building.

While in the conference venue Houston Hall, check out Houston Market located on the ground floor of the building.  Houston Market features several options including, cheese steaks, burgers, sandwiches, flat breads (think pizza), sushi and salads.  They are open daily for lunch and dinner.  Prices vary.  Cash and credit cards are accepted.

For breakfast in Houston Hall checkout Einstein Bagel located just next to Houston Market on the ground floor.  Einstein is open by 7am and serves great coffee, breakfast and lunch.  Prices vary.  Cash and credit cards are accepted.

Want to dine off campus? University City (the home of the Penn Campus) features some of the city's greatest restaurants including: POD, Penne and The White Dog.  There are also 2 Starbucks and a Dunkin' Donuts.  No trip can be complete without a trip to the convenience store Wawa.  Visit http://www.ucityphila.org/ for more information on dining in University City.
